Healthy Schools Weeks

Monday 18th January – Friday 29th January 2016

We enjoyed two special weeks where there were different activities happening around school linked to Healthy Living.  Chris Cook, an ex-Olympian Swimmer, will be visited us on Thursday 21st January and spoke to the children about ‘Healthy Minds’.

Children in KS2 all had fresh fruit at breaktime, encouraging them to think about their ‘5 a day’. The ‘Roots to Food’ roadshow came – it was a great day! KS2 took part in a cooking competition with Mr Curran and Miss Farrah taking on the roles of Head Chefs. They cooked, with a team, wonderful recipes whilst all the children considered the healthy ingredients that were being used in these dishes. Miss Farrah’s team were voted the champions but everyone enjoyed the exciting morning. The recipes are on our website for you to cook with your child. KS1 all had workshops in the afternoon where they made fruit smoothies. They tasted delicious!

During these weeks we have also introduced a ‘Top Table’ at lunchtime. Children are chosen to sit at this table with a friend if they exhibit good table manners and politeness in the dinner hall. The children are enjoying this challenge! Thank you to Mrs Sheen for organising these exciting events.

It was a real pleasure to see you at the recent celebration event and to hear about your school’s successes.

Please find attached a picture of your school’s young people collecting the certificate.

Once again congratulations on your school’s hard work and dedication and we look forward to continuing to support you with your ongoing work.
