At Stone St Mary’s School, we are very proud of the relationships we have with our parents/carers. As you are aware, the school re-qualified for the Well-being for Schools Award in 2023. As part of our commitment to enhancing the relationships we have with everyone in our school community, we made the decision to work towards a 2nd award, the Leading Parent Partnership Award.
We have used the Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA) to help strengthen our school’s partnership with parents. LPPA is a national award that has provided us with a valuable school improvement tool and also given us recognition for our commitment to working with parents when we qualify.
The LPPA will help us achieve these long-term benefits:
- contribute to improved pupil attendance, punctuality, behaviour and progress
- increase parent participation and involvement
- enhance parents’ support in their children’s learning
- improve communication between home and school
We are grateful for your feedback and support over this year to enable us to work towards this award. In response to your suggestions, we have:
- Offered parent worships online as well as in person.
- Set up a PTA.
- Changed our ‘meet the teacher’ meeting to include clear expectations of each year-group.
- Lengthened parent consultations and offering a variety of times.
- Reviewed home-learning to offer more holistic family activities.
These changes were all done in response to your feedback in the LPPA survey so thank you to everyone who took the time to contribute.
We hope to qualify for the LPPA award in November 2024, but we will continue to look for ways to enhance how we work with our parents and see this as an ongoing process.
